Broken Arm – Update 2

The sling is off!!!!!  After a couple of days of gingerly using his arm Ben is back to his old self.  How about that, three weeks and back to normal.  He is pulling himself up again and walking around everything.  He will also walk with you holding onto only one finger!!!!  He WILL walk anytime now……. fingers crossed!

Songs to make you SMILE

Benjamin and I went to the Justine Clarke – ‘Songs to Make you Smile’ concert at Ipswich Civic Hall.  It was fabulous.  It was our first children’s concert so we arrived early to ensure a good seat.  We purchased our ‘Dinosaur Roar’ t-shirt and took up position in the front row of the mosh pit.  Justine opened the concert with ‘I like to Sing’ and Benjamin was so excited but a little confused.  Confused that we weren’t watching her on the television.  She was a bundle of energy, singing songs from both her new and old albums.  Benjamin bounced and clapped his way through the concert.  The concert went for forty-five minutes (just before the major tackling began in the mosh pit).  Ben nearly fell asleep in the car on the way home – ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTED!!!   I still get overwhelmed by what an absolute privilege it is to be a Mum.  I am so honoured to be able to do these amazing things with Ben.  I think I enjoy them just as much as he does.

It was strange to see Justine Clarke in the flesh.  She already feels like a close friend or relative as we share our life with her.  She is in our loungeroom most days, on Playschool or DVD.  I felt like I should have invited her home for a cup of tea.  Well…. anytime you are in the neighborhood Justine, you are welcome to pop in.

Broken Arm – Update

The Specialist – Dr Mohoney, is very happy with how the arm is healing. He removed the strap from around Ben’s body. So now Ben just has a little sling that fits over his wrist. Ben is much happier about this. The Specialist said that probably next week Ben will just begin to use his arm again. At the most Ben will have the sling for three weeks but it can come off anytime after two weeks.

Ben is doing considerably well. He is managing to scoot around on his bottom and get to most things he wants. However I have spoilt him a little and he is obsessed with DVDs. He is constantly wanting the Justine Clarke – I like to Sing DVD put on. I have given in every time. I can see when the sling comes off there will be some MAJOR tantrums – Oh Dear!!!

Zorbing on the Gold Coast

Recently we went to Zorb® Gold Coast.
Belinda, Benjamin and I went with Claire and Al as Al had a gift voucher to be used.

Big, Round, Wet and Very Fun !

Al started off with a hydro zorb where the rider is set free inside the Zorb with 40 litres of water. The rider starts out standing and maybe even running but in most cases ends up sliding inside and very wet. Al lasted maybe five meters and it was all downhill from there (literally).  Big wide grin = Excellent.

Next up I tried the harnessed zorb (dry). Strap in and roll, bounce, roll, bounce all the way down.  Another big grin at the end and I laughed all the way.  The zorb actually bounces right off the ground due to the eccentric weight (me).

Finally Al and I did a double hydro zorb.  First they pump up the pressure, fill it up with water and then we each dive in.  Not very graceful but even that was fun.  We tried to stand as long as possible but gravity and friction (or lack of it) took over and we tumbled laughing uncontrollably to the very bottom of the run.  It seems to go a bit faster with two people inside.

The exit from a wet zorb is very interesting.  Much like birth or perhaps a young Alien bursting from a victims abdomen.  First the water breaks.  Then a body part appears and finally whoosh out we come whole.  Al exited in the conventional fashion feet first.  Apparently I didn’t read the rules or listen to the zorb man.  I exited head first into a somersault on the wet grass.  It wasn’t quite as graceful as I hoped as the zorb rolled over me as I came out.  Nonetheless excellent fun.

I highly recommend Zorbing to anyone.

While we were there Claire, Belinda and Benjamin watched from below and took the photos.  Benjamin was a bit restless so we popped him out on the manicured grass.  At first he was not too sure about the grass and tried his best not to touch it.  He soon got used to it and crawled around everywhere for a stickybeak.

It was a really good afternoon.

“Woof, woof, woof, woof”

When Benjamin sees any animal he says “Woof, woof, woof, woof”. He has been carrying a cow around for a few days now and calling it his “Woof, woof, woof, woof”. I have been saying “No no. It’s a mooo”. He picked up his horse and of course called it a “Woof, woof, woof, woof”. I said “No no…” and before I could finish, Ben said “Mooo mooo”. We will get there!!!

Celebration!

On the weekend, Andrew, Ben and I made the trip out to Chinchilla to celebrate the sale of the family business – Lattimore’s Carey Ford! George and Judy have worked hard for 35 years and now deserve a wonderful retirement. All the boys, wives and children joined George and Jude for dinner on Saturday to help celebrate.

Ben had a great time catching up with his cousins – Tom and Maggie. Ben just loves playing with older kids. Ben also loved meeting the newest member of the family – Megs, the adopted long haired cat.
