Andrew was walking with Ben to put him to bed a few months ago when he discovered some drawing on the wall in the hallway. Andrew said to Ben in his cranky voice ‘Is this pencil on the wall?!!!!’ Ben looked at Andrew, smiled and said ‘Noooo Dad…….. it’s crayon!!’ I had to turn away and laugh!!
‘No It’s Crayon!’
August 22nd, 2010Tony or Julia?
August 21st, 2010I was reading the paper today and thought this comment summed up my opinion of today’s Federal Election. It went something like this – ‘This has been the most disappointing election campaign I have encountered in my adult life. It is like choosing between two really bad husbands in an arranged marriage.’
Tee Pee Fun
August 21st, 2010While researching Tee Pee’s I fell in love with this one using Riley Blake’s Wheels fabric range and we just had to have it. It is from Little Bird Boutique an amazing Esty shop. Fran the owner is the most amazing fabric artist. She sources only the very best of fabrics and has an amazing range of children’s essentials. Ben has fallen in love with his Tee Pee. It has been a HUGE hit!!
Welcome home Honda and Penny-Penny
August 21st, 2010Since we live on a “property” now, we thought that we ought to put on some “stock”. We now have two chickens named Honda and Penny Penny.
First we had to assemble the chook pen. All hands on deck – thanks to Grandad George and Nanny. We also purchased our feed and water containers.
Second job was site preparation. We fenced off a corner about 20m x 10m. Thanks to Grandad and Gamma for lending a hand.
Then, we just added chickens. Buying chickens is apparently like buying eggs, prepackaged in a convenience box. We got our red hens from Stocks Produce, just around the corner from our place and the chook pen from Risson Produce in Ipswich. We are also going to add four Silkies when we can find some.
Now with a little love and care we wait for the magical first egg. Ben checks everyday. So far the reports have been “No Eggs Mum, just poo!”
Wheelie, Wheelie Fun!
August 7th, 2010Cracking The Whip!
August 7th, 2010Our move to the outskirts of Ipswich has brought back memories for Andrew of his country roots. Just before his birthday he mentioned to me that he had always wanted a stock whip. I purchased one for him for his birthday. When at the Ipswich Town and Country Centre, the sales attendant asked me what we intended to use the stock whip for. ‘Oh…. oh…… well we won’t be riding with it’ was my response while in my head picturing Andrew riding swinging his whip shouting ‘Ride like the wind Bulls Eye’. I am sure I must have had a huge smirk on my face. The sales attendant took a number of whips off the hooks, swung them strangely up the shop aisle before saying, ‘Yep this is the one, this will be great to crack around the horses and cattle but not to ride with’. So I nodded agreeing but thinking ‘yep sure thing, that’s exactly what we need for all the horses and cattle on our one acre’. I didn’t dare inform the sales attendant that we wanted it just to crack in the yard for fun and hang on the wall and look pretty!!
Andrew got a chance to break in the whip today…. I had to laugh. I walked out the back and there is Andrew sitting on the saw horse cracking the whip – hilarious!! He mentioned tonight that he has a sore shoulder – even more hilarious!!! Love you honey xoxo
Farewell Family Daycare….
July 21st, 2010It is with a heavy heart that we no longer visit the world’s best Family Daycare Mum every Tuesday. Trudy has been Ben’s Family Daycare Mum for over a year and she has been fantastic not only for Ben but for me as well. I first sent Ben to Family Daycare because we didn’t have any family close and he needed that little something that I couldn’t give him. We struck gold when we met Trudy. She was referred to me by a mutual friend. She took us into her home like we were family. She showed Ben a level of care that was above and beyond what I could have dreamed of. Ben was no walk in the park for Trudy. He cried every time I dropped him off for what seemed forever. But Trudy never scowled she would just scoop him up and shared her heart. At Trudy’s Ben painted, played, glued, sang, read, ran, climbed, jumped and laughed. Ben fell in love with Trudy and her two beautiful girls Eva and Mae and his family daycare sister Ella. Trudy now has a wonderful new addition to her family – baby Oliver. Her hands are a little fuller these days hence our departure. Thanks Trudy you made such a difference in Ben’s life xoxo
Beautiful Boys
June 11th, 2010Ben had the most lovely morning with his two little mates, Joseph and Baby Tom. The big boys played so beautifully with Tom – very cute. I took these snaps and thought they captured the fun of the morning. It was just one of the mornings that made you so thankful for having great friends and children!
