Our Little Grasshopper

I mentioned a few months back the our little Lattimore started Grasshopper Soccer. It is seriously fabulous. Ben adores it and so does Andrew. The big grasshopper (the parents) and the little grasshoppers (the children) work together building soccer skills using playful interactive games. At the end of each session they have a quick one on one game. With all the big grasshoppers cheering and supporting all children. Ben’s thinks of himself as a true soccer champion (well his our little champion)!! We are just so happy to see him out there and enjoying himself. Here is our little grasshopper in action………

Time to Celebrate!

DSC_1379.JPG

Family and friends are like quilts, pieced with memories, bound with love. . .

Ben turned three on the 16 April.  It was a time to celebrate with family and friends.  Ben is blessed to have so many people around him that love and care for him.  His third birthday was a celebration that began on Friday and lasted until Sunday night.  It was wonderful to have a house full of family and friends and messages from those who could not attend making special memories for our special little man xoxo.

The morning of Ben’s third birthday didn’t begin as early as we had imagined.  Ben slept in and we had to wake him!!!  He was overjoyed to see a bunch of wrapped presents in the lounge room.  He unwrapped them starting with the smallest ones!  He was delighted with his gifts – Rocky the crane (from Thomas), Hot wheels Cars, Hot wheels Racetrack, Thomas the Tank Engine wooden track and engines, a book, and the favorite and most cherished was a Push Mower with a pull cord.  When we bought the mower it was packaged in its  box…… OMG it is the loudest mower ever!!!

Ben spent the day at the Railway Workshops with Mum, Grandma, Bree, Joseph and Tom.  It is his favorite place to visit.  The Vegemite sandwiches and chips were a hit at lunch!  Friday evening saw family and friends begin to  arrive  in preparation for the party on Saturday.  It was fantastic to have so many extra hands to get everything organised and to assist in the last minute challenges.  Thanks to all who helped with the balloons and reviving the lamingtons!!

DSC_1330.JPGBen was so excited Saturday morning.  His excitement when his friends arrived was so lovely.  The children made box cars, played with bikes, scooters, pushcars, gyrocar, kite, trains, matchbox cars, dolls and balloons.  They ate lollies, donuts, lamingtons, cake and sausages.  They had a fantastic time with the birthday cake.  Finlay added some extra decorations which nearly gave me a heart attack.  After we had sung happy birthday and blew out the candles I stepped inside to get a knife and in went all the little fingers.  The kids loved it!!  Andrew and I enjoyed watching the children and loved catching up with family and friends old and new.  Ben was very lucky to receive some great gifts.  His grandparents were especially generous with Nanny and Grandad George giving him a train table, track and  trains and Grandma and Grandad giving him a tool bench with all the tools and some great 3D Melissa and Doug car puzzles.  Thank you to everyone who made this time so special.  We love, love, love Birthdays in our house!! xoxo

EDI Rec Club Picnic

This years annual picnic event for the EDI Recreation Club was held at Wet n Wild again. As is customary, children receive a gift from Santa. Ben was lucky to receive a little Bob the Builder, with a working flashlight. Well what a treat, the little light kept him busy for hours. A great day out supported by the Rec Club. Thanks for the gift and also the complimentary drinks, chips, lollies and icecreams.

What makes the day even more special is sharing it with family and friends. This year Al, Claire and Hugo, Bree, Chris, Joseph and Baby Tom and Clive, Cherie, Caleb, Joel and Benny, joined us for the special day. The wave pool was the biggest hit for the little ones but Ben and Joseph also enjoyed chilling in Calypso Bay. Bree took a short video of the boys. I will post it soon.

Racing with Charlotte

DSC_0325.JPGOnce again I have to thank our wonderful neighbours the Durrington Family.  Charlotte comes to play with Ben at least a couple of times a week and I enjoy having a cuppa with Di and Dave.  It makes for a relaxed afternoon.   Ryan and Finlay will come over for a  chat but playing with a two year old…… nah that’s not cool.  We now have a hole in the fence so it is easy to move between the houses.

Here are some pics from a couple of weeks ago when Ben and Charlotte played racing cars.  This car is fabulous.  It was bought for Tom’s first birthday.  Tom turns seven this year!  Ben loves it and plays in it most days.   Ben is having the time of his life….. just look at the face.   I’m sure Charlotte is having a pretty great time as well. Oh and you gotta love the helmet!!   If only their excitement could be bottled!!!

Hisghetti!!

IMG_0658.JPGOver the last month Benjamin’s play has changed.  He has gone from manipulating objects  and role playing to  the wonderful world of imaginative play.  It is so much fun.  He pretends to drive me to the shop and makes up wonderful stories about what he is going to buy.   He carries around the pancake shake mix and pretends it is a CD player, presses buttons and begins to sing and dance.  Yesterday he took all the threading laces, a colander and tongs and made spaghetti or hisghetti as he calls it.   Anyone who comes to the house gets dragged off to have hisghetti.  I look forward to the wonderful adventures that await!!
