Charlotte the Padawan Jedi

We popped in to see our wonderful old neighbors on the weekend. I really should stop referring to them as our ‘old neighbors’ and more as our ‘dear friends’. I can’t thank them enough for all the cups of tea, their wonderful children and amazing advise while I was struggling with everyday motherhood when we lived next door. I was always made welcome in their home and I am so grateful to them all.

As I said we popped over and were blown away by the excitement that Ben’s party invitation had caused. Charlotte and Finlay both put on their costumes to show us. Charlotte was Anakin Skywalker and Finlay was Han Solo. Charlotte had also memorised the invitation and recited it to us……. so fabulous. She also had begun to make her own book with the wording from the invitation. She had used her stencil book and Star Wars lego stickers. And we are not talking about a rush effort here. Charlotte had spent a considerable amount of time on the project. I was blown away……..

We can’t wait to see you at the party Charlotte…..the Force is strong with this one!!

(For those who don’t know what a Padawan Jedi is – it is a Jedi in training.)

Racing with Charlotte

DSC_0325.JPGOnce again I have to thank our wonderful neighbours the Durrington Family.  Charlotte comes to play with Ben at least a couple of times a week and I enjoy having a cuppa with Di and Dave.  It makes for a relaxed afternoon.   Ryan and Finlay will come over for a  chat but playing with a two year old…… nah that’s not cool.  We now have a hole in the fence so it is easy to move between the houses.

Here are some pics from a couple of weeks ago when Ben and Charlotte played racing cars.  This car is fabulous.  It was bought for Tom’s first birthday.  Tom turns seven this year!  Ben loves it and plays in it most days.   Ben is having the time of his life….. just look at the face.   I’m sure Charlotte is having a pretty great time as well. Oh and you gotta love the helmet!!   If only their excitement could be bottled!!!

Swimmin’ Next Door

We have great neighbours. The Durringtons are very generous, and we have been lucky enough to swim in their pool from time to time. Since Ben has been doing swimming lessons, he has become quite comfortable in the water and especially likes have other kids around him.

No problems there as the Durrington kids are a great bunch and they love to play with Ben. Here you can see all three of them all around and even under Ben and I.

Charlotte was very proud to demonstrate how the “SubSkate” worked while Finlay tested his underwater skills and Ryan hid in the background using his new Ninja stealth skills.

We all had a great time.

Anything you can do, I can do too!

Charlotte our neighbour came over to play with Benjamin this week. Charlotte is in Prep so has a keen interest in writing. She has a gorgeous journal that she gladly carries with her. Ben and Charlotte had been playing outside when Charlotte decided to have a rest and do some writing. Well…….Ben wasn’t to be outdone. He dragged a chair over to Charlotte and climbed up himself. He initially tried to steal Charlotte’s journal and pen so we soon got Benjamin his own. It was definitely a Kodak moment. The two sat together giggling and writing for a good thirty minutes.
