There were (nearly) TEN in the bed!!

sleeping friends.jpgBen’s bed is getting a little crowded.  In his bed there is:

– 3 Kaloo Bunnies.  He has had these since he was a baby.  However it was never the intention he has all three at once.  The plan was for him to have one and the others were back ups if we couldn’t find one of the Bunnies.

– 1 floppy dog called Patch.  My cousin Leanne sent this to him when he was born.  His cousin Tom also had one just the same and whatever Tom does Ben does too!

– 1 Baby.  I am sure a hard plastic baby must get in the way!!

– 1 cat called Marmalade.  This was my grandmothers.

– 1 Humpty.  I am not even sure when Humpty made his way into the bed.

– 1 Easter Bunny named Max.  His Aunty Tam and Uncle Phil gave this to him on the weekend ….. and of course it made its way into the bed.

– 1 Beautiful boy…. Ben.

Every night there is a roll call to see everyone is in bed.  Some nights I go to tuck him in and he has his arms stretched out hugging all of his friends.  It is one of those parent moments that pulls on those heart strings….. sweet dreams xoxo

Cousin’s Day!

Don’t you  just love  adventures!  It was  lovely that all the cousins could meet up for a play today.    They traveled  from Chinchilla, Gold Coast and Ipswich for a play at Queens Park Toowoomba. Fortunately Toowoomba (a city not known for its fabulous weather) blessed us with her very best today!!!  The kids had a ball – we had swings, sausages rolls and sabers!!  It’s funny that they don’t see each other often  but they really do have a connection.  There is something very special about family xoxo

I dusted off my Nikon today.  Here they are – the youngest Lattimore to the oldest Lattimore:

Colouring!

As an Early Childhood Teacher I have always thought ‘colouring’ to be developmentally a waste of time.  But as a parent I have wished Ben would just sit still and colour even for a just five minutes!  Well today we coloured with a purpose….. labels for our garden.  Ben coloured in the labels for the vegetable patch. (oh and I am sorry about those finger nails – we had been digging in the garden!!)

What a champion…… however he did ask for the ipod when he had finished because he had done such hard work!  My son the master manipulator!!

Happy Mum!!!

Ben has been attending our local C&K Pre-Prep five days a fortnight for seven weeks now .  I was very nervous about how Ben would go.    But  I couldn’t be more impressed!!    His teacher is amazing and he loves her!  He asks every morning if today is his Pre-Prep day and is truly disappointed when it isn’t.  He has made a lovely little friend  and they are like two peas in a pod!!  I had a peak at his folio this week…. fabulous!!!  A happy little man makes a Very Happy Mum!!!

This afternoon the parents were invited to come after Pre-Prep for a coffee afternoon.  It was lovely….. so many lovely people.  It was made even more special by a sweet surprise…….each parent got a coffee mug decorated by their child to use when they visit.  Oh I just love it!!!  Being a Mum  is so much fun – I feel so lucky and blessed!!

Meet Spud

Ben suggested we needed a scarecrow……what a great idea!  So here he is – Spud the newest family member on the Lattimore Acre.  He is spectacular – not only because of his incredibly handsome appearance  but he has managed to keep those pecking birds away, even the scrub turkey.   He also stayed standing this week through a crazy storm!  Thanks Spud!!

The Christmas Challenge “2010 update”

We  purchased Ben a fort for Christmas 2010.  Andrew and I  researched and decided on a climbing fort from Pepper Town on the Gold Coast.  We chose the Skyfort Clamber Climber with some additions.  But there was only one small obstacle….. it was proving to bit of a challenge to build it.  It didn’t stop raining.   Fortunately for us we have great family and friends and with their  help and a tarp to keep off some rain, the fort was built ready for Christmas. We can’t thank Uncle Al, Uncle Phil and the Durringtons  enough.

We told Ben it was a new Chicken House but he isn’t stupid and soon informed me that it wasn’t a Chicken House but a Ben Sized Play Fort!  We didn’t put the finishing touches on until after Christmas so we could wrap them up and put them under the Christmas Tree.  I also convinced Andrew and Dad  decorate the fort in the pouring rain on Christmas Eve.

We were so excited to see Ben’s reaction on Christmas day……. but there was only one problem IT WAS STILL RAINING!!  I think Andrew and I were more disappointed than Ben about the rain.

Ben still managed a little play between the showers.  I think his face says it all.  It is a hit!!
