‘No It’s Crayon!’

Andrew was walking with  Ben to put him to bed a few months ago when he discovered some drawing on the wall in the hallway. Andrew said to Ben in his cranky voice ‘Is this pencil on the wall?!!!!’ Ben looked at Andrew, smiled and said ‘Noooo Dad…….. it’s crayon!!’  I had to turn away and laugh!!

Welcome home Honda and Penny-Penny

Since we live on a “property” now, we thought that we ought to put on some “stock”.  We now have two chickens named Honda and Penny Penny.

First we had to assemble the chook pen.  All hands on deck – thanks to Grandad George and Nanny.  We also purchased our feed and water containers.

Play pen !

Second job was site preparation.  We fenced off a corner about 20m x  10m.  Thanks to Grandad and Gamma for lending a hand.

Carefully selected site. Chook yard still under construction.

Ready to go.

Then, we just added chickens.  Buying chickens is apparently like buying eggs, prepackaged in a convenience box.  We got our red hens from Stocks Produce, just around the corner from our place and the chook pen from Risson Produce in Ipswich.  We are also going to add four Silkies when we can find some.

This is how you buy chooks these days. In a box from the supermarket !

Honda and Penny Penny

Honda (I think?)

Ben loves them, and just wants to help.

All done, Penny Penny is upstairs and Honda is in the basement.

Now with a little love and care we wait for the magical first egg.  Ben checks everyday. So far the reports have been “No Eggs Mum, just poo!”

Grandchester Model Live Steam Trains

Today Ben and I visited the model trains at Grandchester near Ipswich.
What a great little outing for the kids (and big kids).
Here is a little movie of Ben getting right into the spirit, he really loved the whole experience.

The Magic Touch

Children love to play hide and seek and Ben is no exception.  He particularly enjoys playing in the cupboards at Aunty Claire’s house.  Today Ben and Hugo were having a ball hiding in the cupboard when little fingers got jammed in the door.  Unfortunately this is the downside to hiding in the cupboard but WILL NEVER deter a serious player! On this occasion Ben was a little upset and my kisses didn’t seem to calm the tears.  Uncle Al saved the day.  He spoke to Ben so gently, took his little hand, enveloped in his big hands around Ben’s and blew a magic breath on his finger.  WOW……  it was so sweet and worked a treat.  Thanks Uncle Al that is a keeper.

Kisses for Baby Evie

DSC_1547.JPGAndrew, Ben and I are overjoyed at the arrival of Baby Evie.  Al and Claire’s little bundle arrived into the world late Tuesday morning.   When Ben heard the news he threw his hands in the air in excitement and said ‘She’s here, she’s here, my sister’s here’.  He is a little confused!!  We have been so upset that we have not been able to go for cuddle because of sniffles and tummy bugs.  But we send  this message hoping it makes up for it.  Ben, Gramma and I made this master piece today!!  Congratulations Al, Claire and Hugo and KISSES for Evie xxxx.

Farewell Favourite First Home

In a mad rush starting on the 30th December 2009, we:
1. stumbled upon a new(er) bigger home (even though we weren’t looking),
2. looked,
3. made an offer and signed a contract to buy (oh my god, nerve racking),
4. same day showed our home to a prospective buyer,
5. next day signed a contract to sell

We are now past the craziness and into the new house. We will not be forgetting our first home, as it was a little ripper (and was right next door to the best neighbours in the world). We have posted a lot of stories and photos in the past, but here is the last batch we (Belinda) took for use on the interweb real estate site.
