I was a little bit spoilt this Mother’s Day…………

1.  Andrew used his new cooking abilities to make poached eggs….YUM!

2.  I got a knitty bitties camera strap.  I love it!!

3.  My Mum gave me ‘My Grandma’s Kitchen‘ by Louise Fulton Keats and Margaret Fulton.  It is a fabulous cookbook – amazing illustrations and recipes!!  I think Ben will eat nearly everything in it.   I am going to make Eggs in ramekins and Apple bircher muesli this weekend.

4.  Ben made me a wonderful picture at Kindy.  It is my favorite!

5.  I got to have a snooze after breakfast!!!  (because Ben had me up early to give me my presents!!)

6.  Andrew and Ben had been shopping.  They went to the Antique Centre.  Andrew gave Ben some money to spend and he picked me an old glass bottle and jar.  I love them.  Thanks boys xoxo

A Childhood Treat

Ben has just recently fallen in love with ice-cream….. especially ice-cream in a cone….YUMMO.  He saw a picture of  neapolitan ice-cream (chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice-cream) on the ice-cream cone box and everyday he talks about it and talks about it and talks about it.  Andrew and I can both remember how special it was to have neapolitan  ice-cream when we were kids.  It was Andrew’s favorite (and anyone who knows Andrew knows that he doesn’t really have favorites as he is so easy going….. so it must be pretty special!!).  Well yesterday Ben’s dreams came true (and Andrew’s too).  I bought them a tub of neapolitan ice-cream.  Oh the JOY!!!  Childhood memories came flooding back as I watched Ben’s eyes light up.   Ben couldn’t decide what flavor he wanted…. so he kept tasting mine while eating his own xoxo

Gamma and Nanny xoxo

Ben made these portraits of his Grandmothers {who he refers to as Gamma and Nanny} for Mothers day.  They are seriously adorable and what makes them even more special is that Ben wrote his name of them.  The first time he has written is name.  What an achievement!!! I’m so proud!

‘Ministry of Food is about getting people cooking again by teaching them the basics: how to cook, how to shop, and how to enjoy food in a way that benefits not only individuals, but also their families. We want to give as many people as possible the tools and information they need to be able to make better food choices.’

I am getting very excited! This weekend Andrew and I start our ten weeks of cooking classes at the Jamie’s Ministry of Food in Ipswich.  I jumped at the opportunity to take part.  Anything that helps a Mum provide quick, easy and most importantly healthy  meals for her family is very exciting.  I was in the hairdressers yesterday and some Mum’s were discussing how they become stuck for healthy meal ideas and would love some inspiration.  Well fingers crossed I have found mine….. I can’t wait.  I also would love to lose some weight.  So this is a great kick start.   And yes you did read it correctly Andrew is also attending.  It is a wonderful opportunity for him to learn to cook but I have to say I am looking forward to us doing this together.  My Mum and Dad are taking care of Ben (love them to bits!!!) while Andrew and I cook together.

Our first class is this Saturday.  We will receive a “Participant Start-Up Kit”, with a folder of recipes and information,  a  Jamie’s Ministry of Food bag and an apron.    Each week we need to take a tupperware container because each participant cooks a family meal for four to take home.

I can’t wait to let you know how it goes!!
