Our four little hens needed to be put in the chook house early as we were heading to the coast for the evening. Mum and I sent Dad and Andrew to do the job. It took a little longer than expected. It was quite amusing. I am not sure how two tiny Silkies can cause so much running around, arm flapping and puffing. Andrew and Dad would corner the hens, go to pick them up and they would just fly in their faces. It was really hard not to laugh! Once the job was done Dad and Andrew looked a little worse for wear – red faced and covered in sweat. It was a great giggle! Thanks xo

Fathers Day 2010
Ben was very excited about Fathers Day this year. Ben and I talked about what we should do for Daddy and it included:
– A sleep in
– Presents
– Breakfast in bed – pancakes, fruit, coffee and juice
– Reading motorbike magazines
– Doing pretty much boy stuff all day long!
Poor Andrew I don’t think there was much of a sleep in. Ben was so excited he had to speed up the days events (especially the present opening!)
I Don’t Snore!
Andrew has long insisted that he does not snore….. but every night he falls asleep on the couch and makes noises that sound a lot like snoring. Bonnie doesn’t seem to mind. Sorry honey…love you xo. I think I might get into trouble for this one!!
Ring-a-ring-a-rosie
I’m not sure what I find more adorable, Ben singing, Andrew dancing or Bonnie joining in! Please excuse my videoing skills.
‘No It’s Crayon!’
Andrew was walking with Ben to put him to bed a few months ago when he discovered some drawing on the wall in the hallway. Andrew said to Ben in his cranky voice ‘Is this pencil on the wall?!!!!’ Ben looked at Andrew, smiled and said ‘Noooo Dad…….. it’s crayon!!’ I had to turn away and laugh!!
Welcome home Honda and Penny-Penny
Since we live on a “property” now, we thought that we ought to put on some “stock”. We now have two chickens named Honda and Penny Penny.
First we had to assemble the chook pen. All hands on deck – thanks to Grandad George and Nanny. We also purchased our feed and water containers.
Second job was site preparation. We fenced off a corner about 20m x 10m. Thanks to Grandad and Gamma for lending a hand.
Then, we just added chickens. Buying chickens is apparently like buying eggs, prepackaged in a convenience box. We got our red hens from Stocks Produce, just around the corner from our place and the chook pen from Risson Produce in Ipswich. We are also going to add four Silkies when we can find some.
Now with a little love and care we wait for the magical first egg. Ben checks everyday. So far the reports have been “No Eggs Mum, just poo!”
