Cousin’s Day!

Don’t you  just love  adventures!  It was  lovely that all the cousins could meet up for a play today.    They traveled  from Chinchilla, Gold Coast and Ipswich for a play at Queens Park Toowoomba. Fortunately Toowoomba (a city not known for its fabulous weather) blessed us with her very best today!!!  The kids had a ball – we had swings, sausages rolls and sabers!!  It’s funny that they don’t see each other often  but they really do have a connection.  There is something very special about family xoxo

I dusted off my Nikon today.  Here they are – the youngest Lattimore to the oldest Lattimore:

My First ‘Mummy’ Homework!!!

I can’t believe how excited I am….. I got my first ‘Mummy’ homework from Ben’s Pre-Prep!!!  It was a two page spread about ‘Our Family’ for Ben to share with his classmates and then go in his folio.   Ohhhh it was so much fun!!!!  {Don’t worry I know how ridiculous I sound – I just can’t help it!!}.     I adapted the ‘About Us’ that we use for the blog and added it to the first page and the second page is family photos – Ben’s favorites.  I included Ben, Andrew, myself, all the cousins, both sets of grandparents, pets and scarecrow.  Sorry Aunty’s and Uncle’s I didn’t have photos of you all….. beware at our next  get  together!!!  The  homework  also  said  that  all  family  special       events/holidays/memories can be added during the year.  So we can add a page about our new cousin when she arrives….YAY and other family from Melbourne or overseas we might see!  Oh and yes I just had to add bunting…. as I can’t get enough of it lately and it always makes me smile!

So here it is……. I think it captures our family.

My publishing skills are a little rusty….. I haven’t done anything really since Ben was born.  I used Publisher in the Virtual Box…… which is just crazy as I am sure Mac has something fabulous I could have used.  I also used ‘Picnik‘ a cute online photo editing program to put the curves on the photos {Shauna from ‘The Reed Life‘ suggested it… THANKS}.  But there has to be an easier way to do that as well.  I also need to acquire a few more skills…. like being able to select just the bunting and not the background.  I am interested in all suggestions for editing programs for the Mac….please.

With my first ‘Mummy’ homework finished.  I will share with you another of my  Pre-Prep Parent delights……I LOVE RECEIVING SCHOOL NEWLETTERS…….I really do!!!!

Happiness!

IMG_1829.JPG IMG_1824.JPG

Today was a day of joy, happiness and celebration….. a baby shower.  My glowing (and growing) Sister-in-law is expecting her little miracle to arrive in the next few months.  It was an honor to celebrate with her today.  She prepared a little speech for us….. as I looked around the table at her beautiful family and friends there was not a dry eye.  We are all moved by Tam and Phil’s journey and are bursting with excitement as we all await the arrival of their bundle of joy xoxoxo.

Where Have I Been?

Anyone who reads our blog would have noticed that there hasn’t been much blogging of late.  For some deranged  reason I returned to teaching last semester.  To say the least I did not enjoy it.  Here is a portrait one of the children drew of me.  I think it sums it up…… I was a CRAZY LADY and didn’t handle myself as gracefully as I would have hoped!!

I did however learn a very valuable lesson.  I am truly blessed to have to opportunity to be home with Ben.  I will never take it for granted again!  Family means the world to me!!

So ….. I am back, once again sane and our blog has a new look.   I have missed blogging and have so much to catch you up on.  So from time to time I will add an ‘update’  from 2010…..enjoy.

Just Some Weekend Baking….

Last weekend Ben and I made Daddy some Kiwi Crisps….. his favorite biscuits.  They are a family recipe from his Mum, Jude.  Ben had an absolute ball helping.  Especially when I let him open the blocks of chocolate and break it into pieces.  He nibbled away on any pieces that didn’t break into exact squares.  I suggested to him a number of times that maybe he should stop eating the chocolate but he insisted that they had to be the correct shape and he just needed to nibble a little bit!!

Cousin Hugo Turns 2!

DSC_2043.JPGIt was with much excitement Ben (and his Mum and Dad) journeyed to the Gold Coast for Hugo’s second birthday.  Children’s birthdays remind me of all the excitement of childhood.  Hugo’s day was filled with presents,  bubbles, running, superheroes, swings, kisses, cuddles, cake, cheezels, friends and family. Ben had an amazing time playing with Hugo and Oliver, especially helping with the presents (sometimes a little tooo forcefully!).  Hugo is such an amazing little man with so many people who love and care for him.  It was our pleasure to be part of his special day xoxo.
