Batteries, Remotes and Things that Fly!!

DSC_1262.JPG

Ben is still discovering little nooks in the house.  He particularly loves the spare room cupboards.  He loved to hide in them initially……. but now he is enjoying finding hidden treasures.   He keeps appearing from the cupboards with remote controls, handfuls of batteries and things that fly.  Andrew has quite a selection of remote control planes and helicopters and Ben seems to have made his way through all of them.  Andrew has had an interesting time teaching Ben how to fly some of them.  Ben has some difficulty following all directions which has been amusing.   But now Ben seems to have it sorted and just can’t get enough.  I am constantly amazed how much Andrew and Ben have in common…. boys and their toys!

I’m Very Busy and Important

Can I help you ? I\'m very busy and important.Recently we took a trip to West End to visit Andrew at work. We had not been into Andrew’s work since Downer shifted premises in October. Ben was welcomed with open arms. It was so lovely. The Office Manager took Ben to the kitchen for some treats. He loved loved loved Andrew’s office. He sat at his desk stamping, writing and making phone calls. He kept referring to the ‘the man’ on the phone. Goodness knows whose extension he kept ringing. He asks me every few days if we can go and see Daddy at work. It reminds me that our plans don’t have to be complicated. Ben got so much enjoyment out of a thirty minute visit to Daddy’s office.

My Honda……just like Daddy’s!

I am sure when we first looked at our new house the deal clincher for Andrew was the Honda Z50 that was under the house.  It was just like the bike he and his brothers grew up riding together.  If you listen to any of the brothers when they talk about their bike they light up…. they loved it!!  I really am certain that Andrew immediately imagined Ben on the bike.  Myself on the other hand needed some convincing about it.  But once I was assured that he wouldn’t be able to ride it solo for some years I felt much better.  It hadn’t really occurred to me that Andrew and Ben could ride it together.

Andrew was so excited to show Ben.  Ben loved it.  His face lit up …. well until Andrew started it.  He got a fright and ran screaming and waving his hands in the air.  I secretly was a little relieved thinking that the bike would be put away until he was older. What was I thinking!!??  That was not the case.  Ben quickly grew to love his Honda…. it’s just like Daddy’s.  Andrew and Ben ride around the yard together.  Ben no longer screams with fright but  he screams ‘Yahooo’.  He tries to kick start it and insists of steering and controlling the throttle.  I rest easy knowing that it’s top speed is slower than a push bike and Ben now has his own helmet.  I am also certain that Andrew loves it just as much as Ben.  Have Fun Boys!

Ben Goes Shopping!!!

Andrew, Ben and I popped into Coles to grab some last minute groceries for our holiday.  Andrew convinced me that Ben would be fine walking and he didn’t need to be in a trolley.  Ben enjoyed holding the basket and walking with us.   He was greeted by smiles from other shoppers.   But……… the basket got heavy and Ben could no longer carry it.  It took a whole five seconds of not holding the basket and Ben was off.  Andrew chased Ben and I continued the shopping.  I moved through a few aisles when I came across Ben.  He was having a great time leaning in the milk fridge licking the tops of the milk bottles.  Why….. who knows!!   Andrew was nowhere to be seen.  I picked up Ben and quickly moved away from the milk hoping no one saw.  Finally Andrew comes down the aisle a little short of breath.  MMmmmmm I think I will be using the trolley for a little while longer or taking two baskets one for me and one for Ben!

Socks for your Hands!

19082009_002.jpgBen was in the trolley while I was  shopping.  On this occasion he took off his shoes.  He proceeded to put his socks on his hands and pretend his was a motorbike rider.  I had an elderly lady ask me what he was doing and if the socks were puppets.  I informed her that no they were not puppets but motorbike gloves.  She thought this was quite funny.  That night Ben once again put on his sock (on his hands) and rode his trike around the house.  Andrew thought he would give Ben’s bike ago.  Like Father, Like Son – it kept me amused!!
