My First Web Widget!!

For those of you who may not talk in nerd speak (like myself), a web widget is a software widget for the web. It’s a small application that can be installed and executed within a web page by an end user.  I had to google this after talking to my brother-in-law!! Here is my first attempt at using one.  Andrew did help me a little….. thanks honey xo.

minipod.jpg

Isn’t it cute?  I found this on another blog and knew I just had to have it once I found out how to use it.  It is a MiniPod by MixPod.  You can find mine on the right hand side of my blog….. found it?  Just use it like you would an MP3 player.  Also if you click on the name of the song it plays the film clip from Utube.   I just love it.

So yes…. before you begin making fun of my song selection I shall explain my choices:

Caught in the Crowd  by  Kate Mille-Heidke – Just cose I love it!

You and I by Ingrid Michealson – My new favourite song.  I found it on another blog.  I can’t stop playing it.

Three Little Birds by  Elizabeth Mitchell – It’s so cute and makes me smile.  I found it on another blog.

Catch my Disease by Ben Lee – Great Australian Music…. I love Ben Lee!! And I used to play this to Ben when he was little. He used to stand himself up on the side of his cot and bob up and down.

Scar – Missy Higgins – My all time favorite Missy song.  More great Australian Music.

Lovely Love My Family (from Yo Gabba Gabba) -by The Roots – What Mum hasn’t danced around the room with their little ones to this.  Andrew thinks I have gone mad!!

My Happiness by Powderfinger – Andrew’s choice….. extraordinary Australian Music!!

Star Wars Theme Song – Ben’s choice……. what can I say…… it’s his favourite everything!!!!

So there you have it my first Web Widget!!  I am a techno extraordinaire….lol!!  I just need to work out how to center it in the column.  I would love to hear what your favourite song is and why….. leave a comment.  I might just add it to my play list xoxo.

The World of Blogging

Recently I have discovered a whole new world of blogging.  A world full of ‘thirty-something’ mothers making the ordinary……..extraordinary.  I love it!!  My favourite blogs at the moment are:

Blessed Little Nest – Tempe Arizona USA

Li’l Magoolie – Christchurch NZ

Paisley Jade – Whangarei NZ

The Reed Life – somewhere in the USA

Some of these blogs do link ups…. which is fabulous.  It allows you to link a story  on your blog to story on someone elses blog.   It is a’ virtual’ get together.   For example I got this wonderful recipe off Heather’s blog – Blessed Little Nest from someone who linked up to it.  I am making these Peanut Butter and Jam Heart Cookies this afternoon.  Will let you know how they went….. xo

Happiness!

IMG_1829.JPG IMG_1824.JPG

Today was a day of joy, happiness and celebration….. a baby shower.  My glowing (and growing) Sister-in-law is expecting her little miracle to arrive in the next few months.  It was an honor to celebrate with her today.  She prepared a little speech for us….. as I looked around the table at her beautiful family and friends there was not a dry eye.  We are all moved by Tam and Phil’s journey and are bursting with excitement as we all await the arrival of their bundle of joy xoxoxo.

Patience

IMG_1801.JPG

You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance.

Nothing really prepares you for having children.  Nobody gives you a handbook with fool proof steps for parenting….. if only!!

Today was a tricky day.  Ben was tired.  I am not 100% well and my patience was put to the test.  I could have done better.  I am not coping well with the whinging, the nagging and the constant boundary testing.  My beautiful boy certainly knows how to push my buttons.   But I am working on how to be more patient.

I am not going to say that it is my new years resolution to be more patient…… because that would mean I was destine to fail.  I don’t think I have ever kept a new years resolution.  I think I will call it my word for the year ‘Patience’.  How does one become more patient….. I am not really sure.  I might begin with taking a breath, smiling and counting all my wonderful blessings.

A True Aussie – My First Pavlova

We were heading out to our friends for dinner and I wanted to take something along.  I didn’t want to pick something up from the supermarket…. I wanted to make something.   Something homemade with a little love!  It feels like forever since I had time to enjoy being in the kitchen.  I have a little more time up my sleeve now with Ben being older and with not working.  I had a million eggs from our girls so I decided to give a great Australian desert a go.  I was set to cook my first Pavlova.  And not the instant one out of the Pavlova egg!!!   I have grown up eating pavlova but never made one myself.   I was pretty excited.  So onto the internet I jumped and found non other than Margaret Fulton’s Pavlova.  I didn’t make the cherry sauce.  I am more a whipped cream and strawberry girl on my pavlova.  I  took  some  snaps  of the process just  so those disbelievers could see I really did it.

The ingredients…. just egg whites, caster sugar, vanilla extract and vinegar.  Sounds so easy!!!  Don’t forget the strawberries and whipped cream for the top.

Whipping up the egg whites and sugar.  I had never whipped egg whites before.  It tasted so good!!  YUMMO!!

photo5.JPG

All whipped up and ready to go in the oven.  At this point I was standing a little taller, chest puffed out…..so proud of myself.  Ben was also having a fabulous time licking the bowl!!

And presto….an hour and a half later…… the final product.  Oh my goodness I don’t mean to boast but what a master piece!!!  It was so easy too.  I definitely recommend giving it a go.  It was a hit!!
