Patience {#2}

Patience –noun 1. the quality of being patient,  as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper and irritation

Well yes, I am working on being more patient.  Ben is testing Andrew and myself as all children test their parents.   He has recently begun a screaming whinge….. oh goodness it is painfully annoying!!  I count to ten, take some deep breaths and remind myself I love being a Mum before  dealing with the situation at hand!!  It is so lucky that I love him so much xoxo

A little treasure came in the mail today from Retro Vertigo….. some vintage children’s blocks that read PATIENCE.  I love them.  I have the perfect place for them too.

NoneQueensland Flood Recovery – Brassall State School

Ipswich is still recovering from recent flooding.  It will be for some time.  I felt that I hadn’t really helped in the recovery enough.  We had made donations when needed but that almost felt too easy considering what people were going through.  So with Ben settled into Pre-Prep I have time on my hands to lend a hand.  I signed Mum and I up at Brassall State School.     The library lost everything!  It is  so uplifting to see the donations,  from the public,  publishers, church groups, other schools or community organisations.  Books are coming from everywhere and by the pallet!!   There is a huge job ahead to cover and process all the resources and this is where we can help.  I will volunteer either on a Monday or Tuesday for the next…. however many weeks – covering books.  Every hand makes a difference xoxo

Happy Mum!!!

Ben has been attending our local C&K Pre-Prep five days a fortnight for seven weeks now .  I was very nervous about how Ben would go.    But  I couldn’t be more impressed!!    His teacher is amazing and he loves her!  He asks every morning if today is his Pre-Prep day and is truly disappointed when it isn’t.  He has made a lovely little friend  and they are like two peas in a pod!!  I had a peak at his folio this week…. fabulous!!!  A happy little man makes a Very Happy Mum!!!

This afternoon the parents were invited to come after Pre-Prep for a coffee afternoon.  It was lovely….. so many lovely people.  It was made even more special by a sweet surprise…….each parent got a coffee mug decorated by their child to use when they visit.  Oh I just love it!!!  Being a Mum  is so much fun – I feel so lucky and blessed!!

Just Add Water and ……Presto!

None

We are amazed at our veggie patch…. it is actually growing.  We don’t really know what we are doing, so we didn’t know what to expect.  We are learning as we go.  All we have really done is add water and ….. presto …….. veggie plants.  We do consult  with our only gardening book ‘Dig – Modern Australian Gardening’ by Meredith Kirton from time to time.

Here is an update of what has survived our questionable gardening talents, the magpies and the horrid scrub turkey – tomatoes {fabulously},  carrots {only three seedling have survived}, corn {most got pecked out}, beans {fabulously}, radishes {oh my goodness we are going to have dozens…. radish anyone?}, zucchini {fabulously until I transplanted three plants yesterday…. I think I killed them}, spring onions {most got pecked}, watermelon {only one plant left…does that mean only one watermelon?} pumpkin {two plants survived} and  passion fruit {fabulously}.  I think we are doing ok??

None

Ben is very keen to pull the carrots out!!  It is taking some convincing to stop him from doing this.  I am not sure he can wait any longer!!  I am almost tempted to let him as I want to know what is going on under there as well…….. I am not known for my patience either!!

Will keep you posted on the carrots and other gardening adventures….
