After much deliberation, we made an offer on a new home yesterday. Very exciting but also a little nerve racking.

EDI Rec Club Picnic
This years annual picnic event for the EDI Recreation Club was held at Wet n Wild again. As is customary, children receive a gift from Santa. Ben was lucky to receive a little Bob the Builder, with a working flashlight. Well what a treat, the little light kept him busy for hours. A great day out supported by the Rec Club. Thanks for the gift and also the complimentary drinks, chips, lollies and icecreams.

What makes the day even more special is sharing it with family and friends. This year Al, Claire and Hugo, Bree, Chris, Joseph and Baby Tom and Clive, Cherie, Caleb, Joel and Benny, joined us for the special day. The wave pool was the biggest hit for the little ones but Ben and Joseph also enjoyed chilling in Calypso Bay. Bree took a short video of the boys. I will post it soon.
Yeah Holidays !
We enjoyed our last holiday so much that we are off to Peppers Salt again. Ahh relaxing by the beach (or the various pools), we can’t wait.

The Ute Update #1
Well, what a transformation. Beige to Bling ! New 12 slot wheels 14×7, New Tyres 175, New GT stripes. I like it. What do you think ?
What a transformation for the old 1964 XM Ford Falcon ute with cobra stripes over the bonnet – from beige to bling !

Tropical Fruit Bonanza !
Today we did a little exploring of the NSW Northern Rivers area from Kingscliffe south to Pottsville via Casuarina, Cabarita and Hastings Point. We then ventured out to Murwillumbah via Condong and returned via Duranbah only to discover Tropical Fruit World. Now don’t get hasty in your judgement. For only $35 each (Ben was free) we were fully entertained for over three hours solid. As the name suggests there are way too many fruits to list, but suffice to say you get to taste plenty. Ben even had a go at a few including Blood
Oranges and Chocolate Fruit (with icecream). After the tasting session there was a plantation tour aboard a wagon pulled by farm tractor. At the bottom of the valley there was another tour, this time on a boat, where there was abundant birdlife amongst lots more. The boat trip concludes on a man made island that is purpose built for entertaining kids and also includes a model railway. Great fun ! Ben especially loved the train ride and went around twice, once with me and again with Belinda.
I would highly recommend Tropical Fruit World for an entertaining, tasty (and reasonably low cost) family day out.
The Ute
The Ute. It’s a 1964 XM Ford Falcon, with Cobra Stripes. At least that’s how I will remember it.

We (this is the collective we, including all Lattimores) have had the Ute in the family since about 1988. Prior to that it was the workshop / panel shop runabout (I think). We took it in as a restoration project and returned it to full glory. Including minor paint and panel work, engine rebuild (all 144 cubic inches !), and upholstery/interior.
Since then the Ute has served well travelling between Chinchilla and Toowoomba, moving, dump runs, school taxi, Uni runabout and lots more.
Recently Dad (as the ‘actual’ owner or at least the custodian/bill payer) decided on a refresh. Not unreasonable given the almost 20 years service since the last round.
This time round a full re-spray, all rust removed (not too much), upholstery again, new carpets, interior surfaces painted.
Here’s the killer. NO STRIPES !
I have a sentimental attachment to the Ute including the stripes. They were part of it’s character.
For the next chapter I suggested perhaps some fancy new wheels to give the Ute something ‘more’ (also suggested an XR6T engine & mechanicals transplant).
Anyway here are the before and after shots.
What do you reckon ? Suggestions welcome (and contributions of course).
